Even, tapered sides angled at 4°in the upper part reduce the rate of slot widening. A high proportion of marginal or unsuitably shaped particles may cause some pegging and blocking. The profile is recommended for use when sieve life is of prime importance and where the slow taper effect causes no problems. The almost parallel sides of the wear heads mean that this profile can be used when there are no marginal particles which may cause blocking. The slot width is maintained even when there is wear of the sieve surface. Only when the wear head has worn away is there any slot widening.
